Welcome to Nepal Stroke Association (NSA).
I would like to congratulate and thank the entire founder members and all the individuals for their contribution in establishing NSA, which is a professional social organization, dedicated to stroke, and is the first of its kind in Nepal. The organization is dedicated to working for prevention, education, and treatment of stroke both nationally and internationally. All of us are aware of the fact that, to date, we have no official reports on stroke-related major issues including epidemiology. I am sure that NSA will attempt to contribute to the field of stroke in Nepal by addressing these issues through better education, research, and stroke advocacy in Nepal. I would again thank the team of Neuro and Allied Clinic for their contributions and strong desire of having such a wonderful neuroscience organization in Nepal.
Finally, I request all the professionals, individuals, community leaders, and political leaders interested/working in the field of stroke to be together and contribute jointly to stroke prevention, care and support in Nepal.
Thank you.
Welcome to Nepal Stroke Association (NSA).
As the President, I am deeply honored to lead this dedicated organization committed to combating stroke, one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide.
Since its inception, NSA has been working relentlessly in stroke prevention, education, and treatment across various regions of the country. Our core initiatives include public awareness campaigns, specialized training for healthcare professionals, online educational series, stroke master classes, and workshops and seminars aimed at enhancing knowledge and care standards.
A key milestone in our journey is the Nepal Stroke Project (NSP), established in collaboration with the Stroke Neurology Department of Heidelberg University and supported by GIZ. This partnership exemplifies our commitment to global cooperation. Through these joint efforts, we aim to establish a network of stroke-ready hospitals across the nation, implement a comprehensive nationwide stroke registry, and expand stroke care services to grassroots levels. The recent announcement by the Health Minister regarding the provision of free thrombolytic treatment for ischemic stroke is a direct result of our persistent advocacy for improved stroke care policies.
The power of digital platforms and social media should not be underestimated. Our social media campaigns have reached millions, effectively educating the public on stroke symptoms, the importance of timely intervention, and the availability of life-saving treatments such as thrombolysis and comprehensive stroke care, including thrombectomy.
I urge all healthcare professionals, community leaders, social workers, policymakers, and citizens to join hands with us in this vital endeavor.
Together, we can make a significant difference in stroke prevention, care, and support.
